ALMOST EXILES

The story begins HERE

Saga continues:

Yes, we are still here, in our old home. Is it a good thing? No! We had a court hearing, where we got our final eviction date – 12.12.2022. Which ironically is tomorrow. We have checked all private rentals within a reasonable distance. We just can’t afford private rent, even if we cut down on bedrooms. We informed the council, from which we are awaiting council accommodation. I was flabbergasted when I heard that “we now have to wait for bailiffs to come and we still have time because the court day is not the last possible date”. Apparently from the 12 of December, we have now 2 weeks before the bailiffs appear. My jaw dropped – that’s exactly on Christmas! That wasn’t all that shocked me to the core. I was informed that the cost of bailiffs will probably be presented to us. WHY???

It seems that we are not the first to experience "Happy Christmas"

It seems that we are not the first to experience “Happy Christmas”

We did not choose to move, we did not refuse any properties, as there was not even one offered to us. We have mobility problems, yet for the last six months, we had to live on boxes. In the meantime, we had to unpack some of them. All winter clothes were packed away and we had to go through packages to find them. This winter looks like is going to be tough. Not like recent, passed winters. It is freezing outside and, apparently, we are going to have some snow this year. We are being treated like naughty children, if not worse. Just the fact of involving bailiffs is a very humiliating experience for us, and probably everyone who experienced such treatment at some point. Not enough that we all reached the breaking point and fell into depression, now we have to face a wave of shame on top of it. Being a carer to my son and partner, I am on my wit’s end. Then more that I have just been told that my surgery is going to happen soon – after 4.5 year waiting for it. Perfect bloody timing.

I wrote to our MP (Conservative) and I was very politely informed that that’s like and we have to deal with it. We cannot afford a solicitor, so we tried to get one from Citizen Advice Bureau. I couldn’t get through on the phone. A few days ago I wrote to our District Councillors too – no reply just yet. I sent our story to local media and Watchdog, but they get stories of this kind often and other is no guarantee that our case is going to be looked at on time. We are hopeful though and I am more than certain that I will fight for some sort of compensation after we finally settled somewhere safe.

So the Christmas of 2023 is going to be as follows. No turkey (nowhere to eat it, as boxes are everywhere. No presents – we need to save for potential hard costs of our move (and beyond). However, energy bills will eat it anyway. Lots of tears, fear, uncertainty and shame… What did I miss…? Probably a lot, but my brain is not working anymore.

My Dear All. The next few weeks will be challenging and exhausting, so I probably will not write a lot. We’ll see how it is going to affect us, but I promise to report as soon as I can. I’d like to thank my 1,743 subscribers for your interest. This blog was supposed to my my venting place as well as an insight to life after abuse. I truly didn’t expect that I will have such following. Yet in itself it is good that there are so many people that are interested and curious. It’s a proof that there is still some humanity left after the world turned upside down.

I WISH EVERYONE WHO FOLLOWS MY BLOG A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023. MAY YOUR WISHES COME THROUGH

Ps. We are trying to save some funds for a solicitor. If you think that you could help us, please donate £/$ to support us. Use the button below. Just 1 £/$ will make a difference, if each of you gave that much, it would enable us to get a lawyer. Many thanks in advance.
